Tiruneelakandan - Pananjadi - Temple

HISTORICAL BACKGROUNDS :

This temple is known as Thiruneelakandar temple. It is otherwise called as Mottaiyandavar temple. It is a ample evidence for early pandya architecture. This temple is constructed with stone from the base to prasthara portion. The superstructure is constructed with brick and stucco.

The two sculptural breezes found between kapothaga have elephant and swan carving. Stone sculptures like, Dhakshinamurthy, Yoga Narashimha and Brahma were installed once on the Giriva portion in their respective directions. One stone Nandhi is seen in front of the temple.
