Preservation of Inscriptions

Due to apathy and ignorance of those involved in renovation works in old temples etc., inscriptions are at times disfigured and damaged. Some Inscriptions are used as pavement stones and some are built into an existing structure that has no relevance to the inscription. Such activities can be avoided and inscribed stones lying uncared for, may be brought to the notice of the Department of Archaeology so that such inscriptions can be collected and lodged in Museums, by the Department.

The involvement of people interested in the preservation of culture is solicited by this Department.
