MAHADEVAR KOIL, EDAIYARPAKKAM

HISTORICAL BACKGROUNDS :

The temple was constructed during the regin of Chola King Kulothunga-I by the Sthapathy Chandhra Sekaran alias cholandra simha achari. It is an apsidal from a unique feature of Thondaimandalam architecture. According to the inscriptions, the deity of the temple was called “Thirupadhakadudaiyar” and the village was known as “Idaiyarrupakkam” as well as “Rajavidhyadhara Chaturvedimangalam”.
