Sendamangalam

Sendamangalam is situated in the Ulundurpet taluk of Villupuram District. In the 12th- 13thcenturies CE this village was in a flourishing stage and it served as the headquarters of the Kadava chiefs. A brass seal, containing the royal emblem of the Pandyas i.e. two fishes and the royal whip, belonging to the 13thcentury CE was collected from this place during surface exploration conducted by the staff of the Department. So a systematic excavation was conducted at Maligaiveli and Kottaimedu near Kuyavanodai here.


Rouletted ware, black and red ware pieces and a ring well belonging to 1st-2nd century CE were discovered. A number of terracotta figurines were obtained.
